With reports across Europe and the US on one day calling for conscription for military service and then 'officials' from the DOD, MOD, and EU saying no, they have no plans for conscription the next day, are we going to war with Russia or not?
The political spin machines, or what we previously called propaganda machines, are in full overdrive to persuade the public that war and, therefore, conscription are inevitable.
The original calls for conscription were widely mocked on social media, with public opinion in the Western democracies firmly saying an unequivocal NO!

However, that was round 1; since then, we have had multiple politicians, officials, Generals, Admirals and former Chiefs of staff all calling for or arguing against conscription.
The game here is to move the issue around until the public loses interest or becomes disillusioned and disconnected from the debate so politicians can later claim the public is in favour of confronting Russia, which we are not, and then implement conscription.
